INSTAGRAM LETS YOU REPLY TO STORIES NOW

Have you ever looked at a someone’s picture and found yourself lost for words? Has it happened to you before that you could not express how you feel about something verbally? Actually, it happens to all of us at different moments in our lives. But what is interesting is the fact that sometimes pictures or videos express our emotions much better than words do. And that is the reason taking a selfie or recording a video comes in handy. Photos and videos are the best way to interact on social media, after all.

Instagram has been quick to note the need for people to respond to posts with pictures and has rolled out a new update which allows you to send a photo or video replies to other people’s stories and posts. This update is currently available on 10.28 version of the Instagram app on both Android and iOS.

In the post announcing this update, Instagram explained how this update works with an announcement stating:
“From Boomerangs to selfies too, you can be more fun and playful now when you respond to your friends and family. You can reply with a photo or a video by tapping the new camera button when you are watching a story. You may use any of the creative tools in the camera, such as stickers, face filters, and Rewind. Another way to reply is to include a sticker of the story that you can resize and move around.”

Instagram has taken the lead this time and left Snapchat behind by introducing this feature. At the moment Snap Inc allows its users to send text replies to snaps or posts shared online. This is a very clever feature to add into Instagram as it makes sharing stories more interesting and it is an exciting way to attract more people to join Instagram.
“Typically, when your friend replies to your story with either a photo or a video, you will be able to see it in your inbox. You may tap to view it, and this will also allow you to see a sticker of the original story which is exclusively visible to you. Similar to Direct, your friends will find out when you have taken a screenshot or replayed a reply.”
Although this update may not seem exciting to some people, it is a very clever way to increase engagement on Instagram stories. People who feel too lazy to reply or want to reply but are either traveling or stuck in a meeting, can easily just share a snap of how they are feeling. Similarly, if you are a business owner or managing a brand, you may already be thinking about how to take full advantage of this feature. Well, one easy way is to encourage your followers to share a picture of themselves using your brand or something related to it. You can start a contest to get things going, so people will start sending in their pictures as entries. This will increase the number of your followers as more and more people enter the contest.

This is a fun way to use this feature, and if you want the audience to remain engaged on your Instagram account, then you simply need to upgrade to version 10.28 of Instagram right now.
